Gaziantep AdBlue Fault Solution
AdBlue / SCR · countdown · GaziantepAn AdBlue warning and countdown do not come from one single part. The pump, injector, heater, quality sensor, NOx sensors and the software side are all links in the same chain. Below you'll find how that chain is checked.
How does the SCR system work?
SCR is the system that converts nitrogen oxides into harmless components by injecting a controlled quantity of AdBlue (urea solution) into the exhaust. The injected quantity is not fixed: the control unit reads how much NOx the engine produces and the value after the catalyst, and adjusts the dosing continuously.
The system consists of a tank, heater, pump, pressure line, dosing injector, quality/level sensor and usually two NOx sensors. When one of these links is not working properly the result is often the same: efficiency drops, the warning comes on and the car goes into countdown.
AdBlue fault symptoms
- AdBlue warning
A system warning on the instrument cluster; it can appear even with a full tank.
- Countdown
A counter announcing that the engine will not start after a certain distance.
- Engine warning light
Usually together with an entry relating to NOx efficiency or the dosing circuit.
- Torque limit
On some cars power limiting comes in before the countdown.
- Change in tank consumption
AdBlue going down faster than expected, or not going down at all.
- Warning that shows up in the cold
With heater circuit problems the warning becomes prominent in cold weather.
An AdBlue fault does not come from a single part
The same warning can appear for very different reasons. That is why replacing the pump or the injector outright usually changes nothing.
- Dosing injector
Injection is disrupted by crystallisation or blockage.
- Pump and pressure
The system cannot reach target pressure, or cannot hold it.
- Heater circuit
AdBlue freezes at low temperature; if the heater or its relay does not work, the system cannot come in.
- Quality / level sensor
A wrong reading can stop the system even when the fluid is fine.
- NOx sensors
The efficiency calculation rests on these sensors; a drifting sensor shows low efficiency even when the dosing is correct.
- Fluid quality
Unsuitable or contaminated fluid affects both the injector and the sensor.
- Wiring and connectors
Cable and connector problems are common on heated lines.
What is crystallisation?
AdBlue is a mixture of water and urea. When the water evaporates, solid urea is left behind. This build-up happens particularly at the tip of the dosing injector and where it enters the exhaust.
Crystallisation disrupts the spray pattern, restricts flow and in time blocks the injector. The source is often not the injector itself but incorrect dosing at low exhaust temperature or a leaking line. So when cleaning is carried out, the condition that created the crystallisation has to be found as well.
How do we diagnose an AdBlue fault?
Because the SCR chain is long, order matters: fluid and pressure first, then dosing, and the efficiency calculation last.
- Codes and countdown status
Active codes, warning history and the remaining distance are read.
- Fluid and level
Tank level, the quality sensor value and the condition of the fluid are checked.
- Pressure test
The system's ability to build and hold pressure is measured.
- Dosing injector check
Injection is checked with an actuator test and, if necessary, the injector is removed and crystallisation assessed.
- Heater circuit
We watch whether the heaters and their relays actually come in.
- NOx efficiency comparison
Pre- and post-catalyst NOx values are compared on a warm engine.
- Verification
After repair the system is monitored under the required operating conditions so the efficiency calculation can settle.
How is the solution decided?
With AdBlue, the work is chosen once it is clear which link in the chain is broken.
- Fluid change
Degraded or contaminated fluid is drained and replaced with suitable fluid.
- Injector cleaning or replacement
Crystallisation is cleaned off; if injection does not improve, the injector is renewed.
- Pump and pressure line repair
If pressure cannot be built or held, the line and the pump are addressed.
- Heater and wiring repair
Heater circuit or connector problems are repaired.
- NOx sensor replacement
The sensor is replaced once confirmed by comparative measurement.
- Adaptation and learning
After the repair, the process required for the system to re-establish its efficiency calculation is completed.
AdBlue and SCR work covers diagnosis, pressure and dosing measurement, injector cleaning, sensor and wiring repair, and bringing the system back to the manufacturer's operating values. Disabling the after-treatment system contrary to regulations is not carried out.

The fault memory may hold entries relating to SCR efficiency or AdBlue dosing. The same entry can come from the fluid, the pressure, the injector or a sensor.
